Full school year (August - May)
Students must start the course at the beginning of the fall semester.
First semester will be spent in the classroom. Second semester will be spent at a community classroom site and students will attend class one day a week.
 
Credits:
10 credits per semester with a passing grade.
 

COURSE DESCRIPTION

 
ROP Animal Health is designed to give students highly individualized instruction in various areas of the animal health industry. The course combines classroom instruction with practical on-the-job training. Job- specific training is utilized through the operation of externships targeted to match students with occupational competencies. Students may attend a third semester of ROP Animal Health to earn the California State Veterinary Assistant Certification. 


ENROLLMENT ELIGIBILITY

     High school juniors and seniors who are age 16 or older are eligible to enroll in this course.
 
     Students who wish to earn the Certified Veterinary Assistant Certification must enroll for a 3rd semester.
     The fee for this semester for students who have graduated from high school is $240. Students who are still enrolled in high school will not pay a
     fee for the 3rd semester.


   Course Prerequisites

   
    High school juniors and seniors must request this course through their Counseling Office during their school's course selection period (January -
    Febraury).
    Students must have taken and passed biology to apply for this course.
 
    Students must provide their own transportation to class and to the community classroom sites.
